Our Mission Statement

At Witches and Heathens of CNY, we recognize the pivotal role that community plays in the human experience. Our fundamental belief is in unity and mutual respect. Our organizational mission is twofold: to empower individuals in reaching their highest potential within their chosen spiritual paths and to elevate our entire community to its fullest potential. We take immense joy in witnessing individuals achieve success, happiness, and harmonious relationships. Our aim is to inspire those who may hold misconceptions about witchcraft to delve deeper, replacing fear and mockery with love and understanding.

Founded on June 15th, 2018, Witches and Heathens of CNY has emerged as a beacon for Central New York area witches and diverse spiritual paths. In this nurturing and safe haven, we witness connections burgeoning every day. By leveraging the generous donations we receive, we have transformed our monthly meetups into workshops and hands-on activities. Our group's essence lies in nurturing spiritual growth collectively, fostering a sense of belonging among those who share similar spiritual concepts.

At Witches and Heathens of CNY, we embrace all paths without judgment, understanding that there is no singular 'right way.' While we maintain an open-minded stance, we also strive to dispel prevalent misconceptions surrounding our craft. We are proud to be part of a movement that is crafting witchcraft history, and we anticipate an exciting future filled with collective accomplishments. Membership in our organization opens a world of resources to each individual.

Our slogan, 'We've got a witch for that,' originated from a meetup at Shove Park in Camillus. It reflects our commitment to providing answers and support across a wide spectrum of needs. In addition to our dedicated members, our board includes two seasoned scholars, each with over two decades of experience in multiple religions. Our mission extends beyond the witch community; we proudly support the entire Central New York community.

In our pursuit of aiding the broader community, we host an annual Yule donation drive during November and December, collecting items from our local Samaritan Center's wish list, including essentials like hats, mittens, scarves, office supplies, and kitchen supplies. We recently celebrated our fifth annual drive in December 2022. On Earth Day, we promote community cleanup efforts, with a focus on cleaning up individual properties and streets. Through donations, we organize events like the Witches Ball of CNY, which donates 10% of ticket profit to the Food Bank of CNY, ensuring sustainability for our yearly events, such as Sabbaths, solstices, and equinoxes. We have exciting plans in store for our community's future.

Our commitment to accessibility is evident in our provision of free hands-on workshops, where we supply materials through donations. We firmly believe that financial constraints should never hinder spiritual growth. Through our year-round fundraising efforts, we strive to empower our community to reach its full potential. We also host Sabbath Celebrations for our members, all at no cost. This has always been the driving force behind Witches & Heathens of CNY. Our mission extends beyond our local community; it holds the potential to resonate nationwide and even globally.

One of our overarching goals is to establish a nationwide network of witches from diverse backgrounds. We plan to open chapters in central cities across the nation, part of our five-year vision. Imagine being an organization member vacationing in Miami, Florida. Once implemented, you will have the ability to locate the nearest chapter through our main website, WitchesandHeathens.org. This resource will provide information on metaphysical stores in the area and available meetups during your visit. Similarly, if you are relocating permanently to a different state, you can access our website to find the nearest chapter. Our initial efforts are underway in towns that we believe would benefit from the resources we offer in CNY. Our vision aims to promote wider acceptance of witches and heathens across the nation.

Even in 2023, unfounded judgments, discrimination, and unfounded fears against witches persist. However, we stand as living proof that these biases are misplaced. We firmly reject stereotypes and negativity, celebrating the diversity of spiritual paths. Our call for mutual respect and unity transcends any belief system. We cherish the religious freedom that the United States of America represents and proudly assert our organization's name. We should all be able to take pride in our identities, free from judgments based on religion or spiritual beliefs. Our unity is our strength.

On July 2nd, 2019, Witches and Heathens of CNY was registered as a Domestic Not-For-Profit Corporation, under DS number 5580898.
